People are once again starting up a nerf war this time on the pilot suit and I'm simply f'in tired of it CCP do not listen to these idiots. Tanks were nerfed to hell in Uprising and had broken mechanics that cost me and players millions of isk every day. Now that tanks are just a former shell of what they use to be and Marauders have been removed the pilot suit is coming =)! And people want to nerf them right out of the box! So here is my counter argument why the Pilot suit shouldn't be nerfed before it's even released.
Tanks were nerfed in Uprising if the Pilot suit had been introduced in Chromosome this might have been a different story but on the battlefield almost no one runs proto AV. Forge guns are capable of decimating shields and armor for over 3,000 damage per shot in 4.5 seconds with level 5 skills. That means even the best tanks are only gonna take a few shots from one a well placed Proto Forge Gunner. Even more if you have a squad of organized proto AV you can easily beat kill every Vehicle User. The only reason we don't see this in game is because of lack of experience from a lot of our mercs let's face it a lot of them should be sent back to the academy. Further more these inexperienced players are the ones mostly calling for nerfs because they don't know how to adapt on the battlefield. I my self run Lai Dai Packed AV Grenades which can hit for 1764 damage per through this can actually add up to more then a Forge gun's damage because of how fast they can be thrown minus the range that a forge gun possesses and max ammo.
Tank Nerf List
Turret prices were doubled while module prices were barely reduced which rose the cost of tanks 5% additional CPU was added and 5% PG was added but 25% PG was removed for all vehicle users this made it harder to stack on shield and armor modules with out stacking power grid modules. The result was a worse tank that couldn't soak damage. Turret damage was nerfed in steps first proficiency was removed then turret operation instead of adding 3% damage per level only added 1%. The PG Nerf also made it harder to fit damage modifiers in our low slots because we were using them to add additional PG. The result was a tank that didn't hit nearly as hard. Tank SP sink is a lot more massive then in Chromosome where you could get a Sagaris with all the best mods and all core skills to level 5 at around 7 - 8 mill sp. Result is it takes longer to skill into a weaker tank. For some reason you have to skill into LAVs to get into standard HAVS. Marauders were removed and enforcers were added, the enforcers gave us damage we could possess on standard tanks with lvl 5 skills in chromosome. These tanks have less pg and cpu plus less shield and armor for slightly more damage no one likes them. This has been fixed but tank mechanics were broken for some time turret shots would not register even if the target was 5 meters in front of you as long as the target was above you you could not hit him. Thank god for fix. A lot of people quit tanking as the result of the Uprising nerf I went into logi which was glitchy until 1.2 and made me hate the game I miss Caldari tanks and my Sagaris but their will be no additional respecs from CCP. (huge waste of sp for me)
After all this we are finally getting the Pilot suit and people are whining tanks will become OP when they are just a more expensive shell of what they use to be. If you don't like tankers skill into Proto AV or at least pull out a militia swarm fit and try to fight the tank back. Don't run anti infantry with infantry grenades then complain tanks are op because you will be called a QQing noob.
Pilot suit's will not be OP because they amount of sp it will require to cross train tanks and the Pilot suit. In order for the pilot suit to achieve it's maximum usefulness you will need it at Proto level. The best skill I see it giving is the 10% reduction to cooldown per level which if I was tanking I would look forward to. However the 2% increase in module efficiency when you actually crunch the numbers isn't at all helpful.
For example the heavy azeoteric shield extenders will go from giving 2,185 shield to around 2,405 per module put on. This will not even tank the damage from one basic av grenade or one basic flux grenade. For the Minmitar suit damage modifiers will go from giving 10% damage increases to 12.5% damage increases which after the Uprising nerf you are still gaining a lot less damage.
So those are the numbers at the facts everyone back to bed got like 3 hours. |

that's not really a nerf that's just not having proto's, when they give you proto's back you will be like you were before.
speccing into vehicles became harder since now you would need to sacrifice your ground game and invest more sp, but again that's a time thing not a nerf tanks could again theoretically be exactly the same as before.
There is not such thing as a proto tank tanks are given classes like the enforcer and marauder. The dropships have the logi and scout... |

the increase to pg on turrets again would be far less meaningful if you had your proto tanks.
CCP hasn't really clarified this is an advanced tank this is prototype or where tanks will go in the future because they need some more roles. Maybe a tank that sacrifices damage to gain additional shield and armor or one that sacrifises shield and armor for speed.

Well if we base it off skills a marauder would be an advanced because it takes level 3 Caldari/Gallente HAV operation. A proto tanks would take level 5 Caldari/Gallente operation but who knows marauders could be completely different. |

And they're not "my tanks" I don't own virtual tanks and I did not build these virtual tanks nor do I drive them in Dust 514 I just want to protect everything from being nerf. I think of it kind of like rock paper scissors or how starcraft is played if you are being hit by something and not winning you counter with something effective against that unit. Why the f would i go paper against scissors.... |

but i guess u cud compare the better tanks like the marauders in chromo to an advanced cus it took a lvl 3 skill... |

As a fellow tank drive I agree with half of your post but you seem to have something twisted I to think the Pilot suit needs a nerf from 50% to 25% but thats only to prevent Armor from getting yet another buff over Shields I agree with the tank roles but that is no excuse to not have Reg ST,ADV,PROTO tanks The only "ADV" tank out (if you even want to call it that) is the Enforcer.... I.E a glass cannon tank Maybe things will be different when Marauders come back IDK But One thing people are saying thats true... Is the Pilot suit will be a little op lol
I don't feel so after the nerf even with active boosters a lot of the time it's hard to tank all the incoming fire. I mean when you are getting hit a by Lai Dai packed it's not easy to tank out 1,800 damage even with a booster or rep on and I'm just one person =). Good luck tankers you just got f'ed again. |
